Fremont and Kearney are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Fremont Tigers will be playing at home against the Kearney Bearcats at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
On Saturday, Fremont took a serious blow against Pius X, falling 78-39. Fremont was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-23.
Despite their loss, Fremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jenna Mcclain, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Mcclain hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Denker, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Kearney earned a 53-42 victory over Lincoln Southeast on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kearney.
Kearney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Mailahn, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mailahn has scored all season. Harley Straka was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Kearney, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
