The Culbertson Cowboys suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 76-41 loss at the hands of Poplar. While losing is never fun, Culbertson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Poplar is ranked 34th).
Culbertson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bridger Salvevold, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Plenny Williams who scored nine points.
Culbertson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Poplar, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Culbertson will be playing at home against Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Poplar's road trip will continue as they head out to face Froid/Medicine Lake at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th.
