The Waterloo Bulldogs will face off against the Jersey Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Waterloo has five straight victories, Jersey has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Waterloo got the win against Civic Memorial by a conclusive 10-2. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Aidan Dintelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Juelfs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Waterloo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Jersey came up short against Belleville East on Saturday and fell 9-4.
Waterloo's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Jersey, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-1.
Waterloo came out on top in a nail-biter against Jersey in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
