Wellston had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 8-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Mulhall-Orlando Panthers by a score of 8-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 back in February.

Wylee Terrell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Wellston: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Grady Hull was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
As for Mulhall-Orlando, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
On Mulhall-Orlando's side, Kayden Vibbard made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Vibbard has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mulhall-Orlando let Jace Taylor and Denver McKay run wild. Taylor went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while McKay went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave McKay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Doty, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellston will welcome Allen at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mulhall-Orlando, they will square off against Cimarron at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
