Old Forge and Honesdale are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will challenge the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Old Forge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Friday, Old Forge beat Holy Cross 7-3.

Jake Bartnikowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Elio Castaldi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Old Forge's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Luke Olivieri, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Old Forge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Honesdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Riverside, falling 10-4.
Honesdale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Dressler, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Old Forge's record is now 6-8. As for Honesdale, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9-1.
Old Forge suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Honesdale in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
