Butternut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 29th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 60-26 loss at the hands of the Mercer Tigers. One positive for the Midgets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Butternut's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mercer, they moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.
Butternut will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Solon Springs at 7:15 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Mercer will take on Tomahawk in a holiday battle at at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mercer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
