The Pinecrest Glades Academy Dragons came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 63-53 victory over Horeb Christian. This was payback for Pinecrest Glades Academy, who suffered a 72-62 loss the last time these two teams met.
Pinecrest Glades Academy was led to victory by Brandon Diaz and Andrey Alvarez. Diaz scored 12 points, while Alvarez scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Alvarez pulled down eight or more rebounds. Keith Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Manny Cid, Jr., who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Gonzalez, who scored 13 points.
Pinecrest Glades Academy pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Horeb Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Pinecrest Glades Academy will head out on the road to face off against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Horeb Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pinecrest Prep at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Pinecrest Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
