The Flatirons Academy Bison waltzed into their game on Saturday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They blew past Fleming 54-31. Flatirons Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Flatirons Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Cox, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Cox is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Emily Dehaan was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with three steals.
Fleming lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ashley Bornhoft, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Bornhoft has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciana Lousberg, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Flatirons Academy's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Fleming, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
Flatirons Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Loveland Classical at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Flatirons Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday. As for Fleming, they will head out on the road to face off against Sedgwick County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
