The Wayne Christian Academy Eagle couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were the victim of a tough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Appling Christian Academy on Monday.
Appling Christian Academy was led to victory by Xzayvier Anderson and Jaden Drake. Anderson scored 23 points along with three steals, while Drake dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Drake has scored at least a third of Appling Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Coursey, who scored two points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Wayne Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Appling Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
