Colton is a perfect 10-0 against Pomeroy since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. Colton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.3 runs per game this season.
Colton took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against DeSales, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Fighting Irish last Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Fighting Irish since March 30, 2023.
Kiya Soza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Colton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rori Weber, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pomeroy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Dayton, falling 16-5.
Carmen Fruh made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Raelyn Nagle also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pomeroy's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Colton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .560. However, it's not like Pomeroy struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colton got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Pomeroy by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
