Wilson (West Lawn, Pa.) saw its 14-point lead dwindle to seven, but still managed to hang on and upset
Governor Mifflin (Shillington, Pa.) 21-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Matt Timochenko to
Madison Miller in the second quarter, the Bulldogs led 14-0 at the half.
Wilson saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.
The loss snapped the Mustangs' 10-game winning streak.
Junior Joseph stood out for WHS in the win. The senior tight end ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Jan Johnson played well for Governor Mifflin. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 17 on the year.
The West Lawn school had given up an average of 6.3 points prior to the contest. The 14 points that GM ended with were well below its average of 31.3 coming into the game.
The Bulldogs got revenge for last year's 34-28 loss to the Shillington school with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Governor Mifflin, which notched a 35-21 victory over Penn Manor in its previous outing.
