The Father Capodanno Grunts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Falcon Christian Academy, falling 75-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Father Capodanno in their matchups with Falcon Christian Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Grunts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Attar, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Attar continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedon Hudson, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Father Capodanno struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Falcon Christian Academy racked up 19 assists.
Falcon Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JJ Ross led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds. Ross also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Jordan McMillian was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.
Father Capodanno's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-13. As for Falcon Christian Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Father Capodanno and St. Thomas More Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Falcon Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Spirit of Life Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m. on January 18th.
