The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 46-25 margin over New Bern Christian Academy. The victory was nothing new for Pungo Christian Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Allison Sawyer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 23 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Alden Taylor, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Several New Bern Christian Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alli Anderson, who scored five points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Coghill, who scored three points.
New Bern Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pungo Christian Academy pulled down 26 offensive rebounds.
Pungo Christian Academy pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for New Bern Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Pungo Christian Academy will be playing at home against Albemarle School at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Albemarle School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. New Bern Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Liberty Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 527th, while New Bern Christian Academy is ranked 193rd).
