In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John-Asher Perry, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Aiyden Saulsberry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Strayhorn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Bruce never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against Houlka as Bruce made off with a 12-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Like Strayhorn, Bruce also got a great game from a two-way player: Cole Clark. Throwing, Clark pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sutton Gore struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Clark scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Gore scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Gore posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Coby Necaise and Lane Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Necaise scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Stewart scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Stewart has posted since back in March of 2024. Kolbie Collums was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Strayhorn's record now sits at 3-6. As for Bruce, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.
Strayhorn skirted past Bruce 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2015. Does Strayhorn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bruce turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
