Wapakoneta is a perfect 4-0 against Jefferson since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Redskins will take on the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wapakoneta can't be too worried about heading out to take on Jefferson: they just beat Coldwater at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Redskins came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 12-9 on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Redskins' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Daron Houser made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joel Moore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Griffin Mericle was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jefferson). They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over New Knoxville on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.
Like Wapakoneta, Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucas Millmine. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Millmine was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Karder Agner was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Rode, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Wapakoneta's record now sits at 13-3. As for Jefferson, their record is now 6-15.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wapakoneta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .259. Will they be able to contain Wapakoneta's hitters?
Wapakoneta took their victory against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
