After a string of three wins, The Sweeny Bulldogs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 36-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Royal. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Sweeny's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ace Seibert, who threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns, and Warrick Hernandez who picked up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hernandez's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.
Royal was led to victory by Zakai Anderson and Ashton Robinson. Anderson gained 251 total yards and a touchdown, while Robinson rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Royal also got help from Noah Lasker who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Royal, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Sweeny will be playing at home against Sealy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sealy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Royal, they will head out on the road to face off against La Marque at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
