The Neuse Charter Cougars's 26-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 76-38 loss at the hands of Franklin Academy on Friday. Neuse Charter found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up ten fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Neuse Charter still got an impressive performance from Jayvin Bradley, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Bradley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Demonte Jackson, who scored five points.
Neuse Charter struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Franklin Academy found their leader in underclassman Hayes Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Lewis' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Micah Rutledge was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Neuse Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Southside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against North Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. North Johnston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Franklin Academy likes a good challenge.
