Baseball Recap: Barnwell Has No Trouble Against Manning

The Barnwell Warhorses made easy work of the Manning Monarchs on Thursday and carried off a 14-4 win. The Warhorses might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Case Davis and Cameron Austin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Davis pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Austin didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, Davis posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Davis went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Austin went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That triple marked the first that Davis has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vinny Gibson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Hayden Pierce was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Barnwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Barnwell's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Manning, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

As of now, neither Barnwell nor the Monarchs have any future games scheduled.
