Meanwhile, Oakdale earned a 10-5 win over Greenback on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won four in a row.
Landry Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 15 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Rilee Goodson and Darcy Bingham did most of the damage at the plate: Goodson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Bingham earned three runs and five stolen bases. With that strong performance, Bingham is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. Addy Ruppe also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Oneida's record is now 4-2. As for Oakdale, their record now sits at 4-0.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oneida hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .620. However, it's not like Oakdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .629. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oneida suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Oakdale in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
