The South Mecklenburg Sabres put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 75-59 victory over Berry. Given South Mecklenburg's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Berry is ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Mecklenburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anderson Skelton out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Skelton pulled down eight or more rebounds. Peter Moye was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
South Mecklenburg's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Berry, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
South Mecklenburg will be home for the holidays to greet Palisades at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Palisades focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for Berry, they will head out on the road to face off against Ardrey Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ardrey Kell's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
