First Academy has gone 9-1 against St. John Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Saints at 7:00 p.m. First Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
First Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Lake Mary Prep on Tuesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins.
Cole Bell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, St. John Lutheran came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Rams. The contest marked the Saints' most dominant win of the season so far.
Bryce Disimile was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carlos Sanchez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Adam Stillwell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
St. John Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .312.
First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for St. John Lutheran, their record is now 7-3.
First Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against St. John Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 11-9. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
