Westlake extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern this week by beating Berea, 35-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Avon Lake and Olmsted Falls played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Avon Lake eventually emerging with a 21-17 victory.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tom Tupa threw for 403 and two touchdowns and Tyler Tarnowski had 137 yards receiving. On the ground Ryan Mulhorn chipped in 110 yards. Paul Karthan helped Brecksville-Broadview Heights' passing attack out by catching nine balls for 111 yards.
The Bees' Tupa and Tim Tupa have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tupa has thrown for 3066 yards this season, while Tupa, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 64 catches for 1005 yards. Jordan Irvin from Steele leads the league in rushing with 655 yards.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights' Tarnowski is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 15 receiving yards against Westlake to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has garnered 61 catches for 985 yards.
A big matchup in Southwestern this week will be when Mark Campo's team takes on Jason Black's team. The Demons are in first place, while the Bees are in fifth place.
Westlake took down the Braves 35-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
