The Heritage Hawks will face off against the St. Thomas More Sabers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Heritage has given up an average of 17.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Heritage came up short against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Monday, falling 15-1. The Hawks have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Heritage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bre Patten, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas More hadn't done well against Argenta-Oreana recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Sabers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over the Bombers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sabers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Caroline Schweighart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Gooding, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Claire Simons, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
St. Thomas More's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
