The Metea Valley Mustangs will face off against the Oswego East Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Metea Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Rolling Meadows get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for Metea Valley, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tyler Gluting was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gluting was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other pitching news, Kayden Nimer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Willhite, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Carter Behrns was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Metea Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rolling Meadows only posted a batting average of .091.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oswego East). Everything went their way against Plainfield East on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wolves with their most commanding win of the season.
Nick Brennan looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, TJ Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Wheaton, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
The win made it two in a row for Oswego East and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Metea Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Metea Valley couldn't quite finish off Oswego East in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 5-3. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
