Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Ja'Corey Robinson of
Highland Park (Topeka) is the 2023-24 Kansas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-5 junior forward led the Scots to a 23-2 record and the Class 5A state semifinals.
For the season, Robinson averaged 24 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three steals. In a 67-64 semifinal loss to Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita), he tallied 20 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.
Robinson scored 40 points in an 80-48 victory over Bonner Springs to send Highland Park to the state tournament.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released April 10.
