Payson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Desert Hills Thunder by a score of 60-51 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on five straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Payson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Legend Reynoso, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Micah Swasey, who on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.
Payson was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Hills only seven assists.
Despite the loss, Desert Hills still got an impressive performance from Ben Chase, who to rack up 17 points and five boards. Chase is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 70% in the last three games he's played. Mason Rasmussen was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Payson pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Desert Hills, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
Payson has already played their next contest, a 52-48 victory against Pine View on the 20th. Desert Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
