With a playoff win on the line, Rancho Mirage rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Edgewood Lions 10-8. Winning may never get old, but the Rattlers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Anelisa Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Rancho Mirage let Jezell Espericueta and Lilian Rocha run wild. Espericueta went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Rocha went 3-for-4 with three runs. Espericueta has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dayanara Marquez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Rancho Mirage's record now sits at 17-10. As for Edgewood, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-10 record.
