WEST MONROE, La. -
West Monroe (La.) jumped out to an early lead against
Airline (Bossier City, La.) and never looked back on the way to a 34-14 victory on Saturday.
The Rebels put up 13 points in the opening frame. West Monroe scored on a
Logan Murry touchdown pass to
Delanius Barber and a touchdown run by
Segrick Williams.
WM was up 26-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Williams in the first quarter.
The Rebels expanded their lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. West Monroe scored two times in the third, including once on a
Steven Jones touchdown run.
The Vikings'
Hayden Hildebrand played well. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Murry stood out for WM in the win. The senior tight end threw one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
The Rebels had given up an average of 14.6 points prior to the contest. Airline came in giving up 14.4 points per game this season. AHS struggled against West Monroe's offense, which entered the game scoring 11.9 points per game.
With the win WM extended its winning streak to four games. The loss snapped the Bossier City school's 3-game winning streak.
The Rebels (11-2) will play a playoff game against Airline next week. The Vikings go into the week with a record of 11-2.
