Central California Conference recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Turlock, who defeated 194th ranked Buhach Colony, 49-31.
The Bulldogs scaled the state rankings by moving to 279 from 321 this week, the biggest jump in Central California Conference. Turlock was able to move up by defeating the Thunder 49-31.
Quintin Levesque was the best running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 140 yards as Buhach Colony lost to James Peterson's team. Justin Stefani also contributed to the rushing game with 60 yards on the ground.
Merced's Tyrone Williams and Trevante Richard led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Williams has thrown for 1,755 yards this season, while Richard has 40 catches for 610 yards. Levesque from Kevin Swartwood's team leads the league in rushing with 856 yards.
One of Central California Conference's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Bears and Golden Valley face off next week.
As it stands, the Bulldogs are in third, while Pitman is in second.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Thunder and Atwater face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Buhach Colony comes in having scored 264 this season, while the Falcons have scored 275. The Thunder scored 31 points last week as they fell to Turlock.
Merced added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Atwater, 24-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the Rob Scheidt's team.
