Gavin Robinson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Robinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Steven Uszynski, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
The Meadows School came out on top against Virgin Valley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Mustangs took their game against the Bulldogs 10-7. The Meadows School's win was all the more impressive since the Bulldogs were averaging only 3.71 runs allowed on the season.
Like Boulder City, The Meadows School also got a great game from a two-way player: James Nelson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor McGill, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Aiden Robertson was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Boulder City's record is now 19-12. As for The Meadows School, their record now sits at an identical 19-12.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boulder City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like The Meadows School struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boulder City skirted past The Meadows School 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
