Even though the Southland Christian FLAMES scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Harmony Longhorns still came out on top. Harmony secured a 61-57 W over Southland Christian. Given Harmony's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Southland Christian is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harmony's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremy Penner, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Tribe, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Southland Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Derek Lopez and Michael Pellot. Lopez scored 21 points, while Pellot dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Juan Rios, who scored 13 points.
Harmony is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Southland Christian, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Harmony will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Celebration at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Celebration focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday. As for Southland Christian, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Montverde Academy Regional at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th.
