The Harvard Cardinals were the 46-44 winner over the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Harvard received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 60-41 to Heartland Lutheran.
Despite the loss, Harvard still got an impressive performance from Cody Fishler, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Fishler scored a full 41.5% of Harvard's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethyn Whetstine-jones, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Harvard bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Heartland Lutheran, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harvard will be home for the holidays to greet Gibbon at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibbon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Heartland Lutheran will be home for the holidays to greet Dorchester at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Dorchester is ranked 277th, while Heartland Lutheran is ranked 282nd).
