Blue Springs (Mo.) jumped out to an early lead against Central (St. Joseph, Mo.) and never looked back on the way to a 53-6 victory on Saturday.
The Wildcats put up 17 points in the opening frame. Blue Springs scored on a
Darron "Blane" Howell touchdown run, a punt return touchdown by
Darrius Shepherd and a field goal by Howell.
After taking the lead on a Howell touchdown run in the first quarter, BS was up 33-6 at the half.
The Wildcats grew their lead to 47 points entering the fourth quarter. Blue Springs scored six times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Dalvin Warmack.
Central's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter.
In a non-conference game next week Blue Springs (1-0) takes on Park Hill South, and Central (0-1) will go up against Platte County also in a non-conference game.
