Basketball Game Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Northridge Grizzlies

The Platte Valley Broncos will square off against the Northridge Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Platte Valley came up short against SkyView Academy and fell 45-33.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rocco Minner, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Edstrom, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 81-28 loss at the hands of Timnath. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-12.

Like Northridge, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Anthony Mendiola led the charge by putting up eight points.

Platte Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Platte Valley has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Platte Valley won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, slipping by Northridge 58-57. Does Platte Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
