Springfield is 2-8 against Churchill since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Springfield Millers will head out on the road to face off against the Churchill Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Springfield suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 60-35 defeat at the hands of Thurston. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Springfield in their matchups with Thurston: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Churchill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by North Eugene 75-41. While losing is never fun, Churchill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while North Eugene is ranked seventh).
Springfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Churchill, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-5 record last season and are now at 3-11.
Springfield was taken down by Churchill 64-36 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
