East Aurora hasn't had much luck against Maryvale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will head out to take on the Flyers at 5:00 p.m.
East Aurora made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pioneer, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-9 on Wednesday.
Jericho Ciamaga stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Jackson Catanzaro also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maryvale). Everything went their way against Lake Shore on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flyers.
Isaiah Hill made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hill was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Maryvale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Maryvale let Jacob Kuciel and Brayden Donahue run wild. Kuciel went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Donahue got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Kuciel is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Eli Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Maryvale's record now sits at 5-3. As for East Aurora, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
East Aurora might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Maryvale when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
