The South Aiken Thoroughbreds had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Airport 51-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory South Aiken has posted since November 24, 2023.
Sumara Williams was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 13 points. Jasmine Epps was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Airport's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'sia Booth, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Keyosha Hammond, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
South Aiken's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. As for Airport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Midland Valley the next time they take the court. Airport will host Midland Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while South Aiken will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
