Regis Jesuit and Highlands Ranch are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Raiders will host the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Regis Jesuit took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Ponderosa 3-0. The Raiders not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 30th (when they won 3-0).
While Regis Jesuit won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-25, 25-17.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Highlands Ranch took on Heritage on Wednesday. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 3-2.
Highlands Ranch was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11.
Highlands Ranch found their leader in sophomore Maggie Weiss, who had 19 digs. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Weiss. Alice Weiss also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Highlands Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Regis Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
Everything went Regis Jesuit's way against Highlands Ranch when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Regis Jesuit made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
