The Eastside Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 56-44 to Newberry. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while Newberry is ranked 105th).
Eastside's loss came despite strong showings from Kelvin Baker and Quashawn Brittingham. Baker scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Brittingham scored 14 points. Davion Pugh was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Eastside has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Newberry, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Eastside will look to defend their home court on Friday against Buchholz at 7:30 p.m. Newberry will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Chiefland at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
