Softball Recap: Bronson Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Bronson's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let the Cedar Key Sharks get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Julianne Lampton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Presley Thomas, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Tegan Barber was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bronson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bronson's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Cedar Key, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bronson will welcome Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cedar Key, they will face off against Ocala Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocala Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.33 runs per game on average), something Cedar Key will no doubt try to take advantage of.
