The Aquinas Knights lost against the Sandy Valley Cardinals back in January of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Aquinas took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandy Valley.
Despite the defeat, Aquinas saw an underclassman step up: K'Lynn Carter dropped a double-double on 36 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 70.6% of Aquinas' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Janya Jeter was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Aquinas has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Sandy Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Aquinas will be playing at home against Rootstown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rootstown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Aquinas in Ohio (Rootstown is ranked 66th, while Aquinas is ranked 566th). As for Sandy Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Garaway at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
