Even though the Christiansburg Blue Demons scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, the Glenvar Highlanders still came out on top. Glenvar took their matchup against Christiansburg 64-55. That looming 64-55 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Glenvar yet this season.
Glenvar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Dawyot, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. The match was Dawyot's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Hutchison, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Glenvar's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Christiansburg, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenvar will take on Blacksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Blacksburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Glenvar in Virginia (Blacksburg is ranked 88th, while Glenvar is ranked 289th). Christiansburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Salem at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th.
