Southeastern - South recap Oct. 3, 2012
LaSalle's Josten Borgella rumbled for the longest rushing play in Southeastern - South this season in his game against Ransom Everglades last week. Borgella ran for 55 yards on the play and finished with 59 on the day as his team bested the Raiders.
Roberto Perez and Dimitry Georges provided fans with a highlight when they connected against John Carroll Catholic. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 83 yards.
JJ Burmeister and Julian Seekins gave Florida Christian a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Burmeister threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while Seekins ran for 87 yards. Michael Erwin also contributed to the rushing game with 39 yards on the ground.
Perez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Marathon fell to the Rams. He completed six passes for 168 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 15 yards. Perez's favorite target this week was Shemar Fantroy, who caught three passes for 121 yards.
Miami Country Day's Michael Fente and Sam Cohen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Fente has thrown for 416 yards this season, while Cohen, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 233 yards. Montrel Thomas from LaSalle leads the league in rushing with 430 yards.
Two of the top units in Southeastern - South will face off this week when the Patriots take on Archbishop Curley. Florida Christian's offense has racked up 104 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Knights have allowed only 150 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Spartans take on Coral Shores. Miami Country Day is in fourth place, while the Hurricanes are in third place.
The Royal Lions extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ransom Everglades, 33-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the LaSalle.
