The biggest upset of the week belonged to Godinez, who took down 638th ranked Costa Mesa, 23-21. Zachary Huizar threw for 98 yards and one touchdown and ran for 17 yards in the win.
Noah JeyaRajah and Markiece Traylor provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Godinez. The longest such play in Orange Coast this season, the connection resulted in 85 yards.
JeyaRajah provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Mustangs lost to Aron Kaye's team. He completed two passes for 131 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 29 yards. JeyaRajah's favorite target this week was Traylor, who caught two passes for 131 yards.
Larry Stewart put up the best numbers through the air as Laguna Beach beat Estancia. He finished with a total of three completions for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Stewart's favorite target this week was Robert Clemons III, who caught one pass for 38 yards.
ISIAH FRANKS was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 156 yards as Saddleback lost to Godinez. EDDIE ARVEZU also contributed to the rushing game with 70 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Colin Kearon of Calvary Chapel is the league leader in passing yards this season with 936. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Breakers' Drake Martinez has rushed for 769 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Traylor. The Costa Mesa star has 25 catches for 469 yards.
A big matchup in Orange Coast this week will be when Laguna Beach takes on the Eagles. Michael Churchill's team is currently in first, while Calvary Chapel is in fifth.
Godinez moved up to 726 from 833 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Godinez climbed the ranks as a result of besting Wally Grant's team 23-21.
