The Camarillo Scorpions will head out on the road to challenge the West Ranch Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Camarillo has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Camarillo fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pacifica on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tritons by a score of 8-6. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Grant Tsuji was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ezra Abbe also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Ranch). They put the hurt on Capistrano Valley Christian with a sharp 16-3 win on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Steven Serrano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Serrano was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Aaden LaRoe looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Greyson Paule was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.
Camarillo now has a losing record of 8-9. As for West Ranch, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Camarillo couldn't quite get it done against West Ranch in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
