It was a good run, but the Capital Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a hard 45-29 fall against Middleton. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Middleton is ranked ninth).
Middleton found their leader in underclassman Zoey Blackwell, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Blackwell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Elsie Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Capital's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-12. As for Middleton, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Capital will be playing at home against Owyhee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owyhee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Middleton, they will head out on the road to square off against Kuna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
