The Dixie Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Whitmire 53-29. That 24 points margin sets a new team best for Dixie this season.
Dixie found their leader in underclassman Jaylia Turner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Turner has scored at least a third of Dixie's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerri O'Shields, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Despite the defeat, Whitmire saw an underclassman step up: Brooklynn Babb scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Babb has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Raylin Vicars, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Whitmire struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dixie posted ten assists.
Dixie's victory ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Whitmire, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind the next time they take the court. Dixie will head out to face South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Whitmire will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
