The Piedmont Academy Cougars were the 52-35 winner over the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. Piedmont Academy fell 64-53 to Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Piedmont Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Central Fellowship Christian Academy is ranked 53rd).
When it comes to explaining why Piedmont Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marissa Holder. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Holder scored a full 28.3% of Piedmont Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Satterfield, who scored 13 points.
Piedmont Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Piedmont Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Tattnall Square Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against John Milledge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. John Milledge Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
