The Newtown Nighthawks are staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars. Each game has meant fewer and fewer points for Newtown in their past three games, so Kolbe-Cathedral might be catching them at a good time.
The Nighthawks were close but no cigar on Tuesday as they fell 51-48 to Masuk. Given their respective MaxPreps rankings, Newtown's defeat came as a bit of a surprise. Senior Jack Mulligan (20 points) was the top scorer for Newtown.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kolbe-Cathedral on the road against Notre Dame Catholic on Tuesday as the squad secured an 82-46 victory. That 36-point margin sets a new team best for Kolbe-Cathedral on the season.
The Nighthawks are now 11-5 while Kolbe-Cathedral sits at 11-5. The Cougars are 7-3 after wins this year, and Newtown is 3-1 after losses.
