The Salt Fork Storm will head out on the road to square off against the Oakwood Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Salt Fork sitting on 12 straight wins and the Comets on four.
Watseka typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Salt Fork proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 44-40 win over the Warriors.
Meanwhile, Oakwood was able to grind out a solid win over the Raiders on Monday, taking the game 49-39.
Oakwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaydah Arrowsmith led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Arrowsmith has scored at least a third of Oakwood's points. Another player making a difference was Gracie Hanner, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Salt Fork's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. As for Oakwood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.
Salt Fork strolled past the Comets when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 46-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salt Fork since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
